If you are like me you love a good body lotion! Did you know that anything that you apply to your skin absorbs right into your body and into your bloodstream? That includes the long list of toxins that are found in most popular store-bought brands. Reading the ingredients list on the back of most of these lotions is quite concerning. You will find parabens, along with a long list of other toxic chemicals. So while we are applying this to keep our skin soft and hydrated, we are actually applying chemicals and preservatives that can make us sick! The great new is it is quite easy to make your own natural lotion using just a few simple ingredients!
Easy to Make Natural Lotion
There is something quite satisfying about finding things you can make on your own, instead of having to purchase it. It is even better when it is easy to make, and better for you than the store bought item. This is a prime example of one of those things.
When looking at the ingredients found in this lotion, you will not only notice that they are not only all natural, but many of them are known as having quite a few benefits associated with them. Let’s take a look at a few!
Coconut oil, one of the main ingredients, is a great moisturizer. It is quite safe, as well as hypoallergenic. It is also known for other uses for the skin as well, such as helping to prevent sunburn and soothing chapped lips. Coconut oil also has both antibacterial and anti fungal properties. This is just a small sampling of the benefits.
You will find shea butter in many different types of moisturizers and there is a reason for that! Along with its moisturizing ability it also aids in smoothing the skin and is said to have anti inflammatory properties.
One of the beauties of this lotion is that you can use any essential oil you choose as a fragrance. I like using lavender, which is known for its relaxing properties. Not only is it said to help relieve tension, and joint and muscle pain, but some even use it to treat insomnia. (Talk about calming!)
If you ask me these are much better alternatives than the alcohol, synthetic colors, and other junk found in most common “moisturizers”. So without further delay here is the recipe and directions to make your very own customized lotion, that is actually good for your skin!
